Massive mental battle to go for the ride this morning. From the start, things seemed to be against me (most of which were my own fault). Failed to prepare for the session the night before by washing my clothes, preparing food and pumping up tyres. As a result it was a mad rush in the morning as I donned my sweaty, pungent bike attire and scoffed a honey sandwich.
Met up with Vlad and we rode up to Mt White. Turned around a bit early at Vlad's suggestion (he had probably had enough of my whinging). Stopped at Pie in the Sky to fill up water bottles. Normally I hate stopping, but I really enjoyed this one. It gave me a chance to stretch out my back which had been playing up (it has been stiff all week, no doubt due to increased time studying and being slack with my exercises). Saw 'the boys' (Pete, Jeff, Adam, Steve) team time trialling their way up to Bobbin Head (Mt. Colah side) in prep for the hilly Canberra HIM course.
My spirits lifted on the return journey, probably as I gradully realised that we were on our way home, and the planned 4 hour ride would be cut short (for me anyway). This suggests that it may be more of a psychological fatigue. On the whole I did not feel all that bad, perhaps more lazy and lethargic than anything. Did more than my fair share of drafting, and very little pacing (sorry Vlad) and got home 40mins ahead of shedule. No spin (once again, lazy) then ate and slept all afternoon. Had my shoulders damn near torn off PTing Dave Pound with the boxing mits.
